President’s MessageMessage from the Dupont Brazil President70 years present in the sustainable development of the CountryFor 70 years DuPont is present in Brazilians daily life. Looking back, we can be proud of being part of the country's development, bringing products and services that have contributed to make Brazilians' life better, safer and healthier for all generations who in their daily activities use our products in their houses, food, clothing, cars and even in their leisure time. We grew with the country, responding to the needs of the Brazilian society, and proudly we testify our company's contribution to the economy development and social welfare of the country. With this, DuPont Brasil's grow rate has been higher to 16% over the last years, reaching in 2006 record revenue of more than one billion dollars The expansion of our business in Brazil coincides with the progress of the country. In the beginning we provided explosives for roads and power plants construction. Later on, we actively participated in the development of the Brazilian automotive industry, providing state-of-the-art technology in coolant gases and automotive paints that contributed for this industry to be internationally competitive. During negotiations on the Montreal Protocol we took a leadership position in the discussion about the discontinuity of the CFCs, reassuring our commitment with the environment and sustainability. In mid-eighties, the non-stick Teflon® consolidated its presence in Brazilian houses. Other products such as Nomex® - flame resistant - and Kevlar® fiber that due to its high strength and flexibility in the manufacture of bullet-resistant vests have also conquered a definitive place in the Brazilian market. Agriculture has always counted on DuPont's support. Besides the traditional offer of pesticides, Pioneer seeds were incorporated to our portfolio as well as solutions to the ethanol and biofuel market in which production Brazil is pioneer. Brazil, which has always been important to DuPont, from 2004 became a strategic country in the company's growth plan. We are still investing in plants and experimental labs in addition to people development. I can guarantee that we have all conditions to become one of the most important countries for the future of DuPont, a company that after 70 years in Brazil and entering its third century, comes into the 21st Century putting science to work in the benefit of sustainable growth. The country's potential is crystal clear in terms of renewable materials, offering significant opportunities in sectors like agriculture and biofuels. There is no doubt as for the increasing importance of Brazil in global development and DuPont will always be present, supporting the country's sustainable growth, and continuously innovating its local offers of products and services. For us, science is part of people's life. Our goal is to build the most dynamic science company in the world, creating solution to a better life.
